The 17,000-ton Wise Honest, which also was used to deliver heavy machinery to North Korea, is the second largest of Pyongyang's bulk carriers, the US Justice Department said. "But I don't think they're ready to negotiate", Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday.

The U.S. has taken possession of a North Korean cargo ship for violating worldwide sanctions, a first-of-its-kind seizure that came amid escalating tensions between the two countries over North Korea's nuclear weapons program. In 2018 North Korea imported over half-a-million barrels of refined petroleum, it says. I know they want to negotiate.

Officials with the Southern District of NY in Manhattan and the Department of Justice say that operators of the Wise Honest, one of North Korea's largest bulk-carriers, used US currency and USA banks to bolster their coal- and machinery-shipping operation - in clear defiance of US sanctions.

"Well, we're looking at it very seriously right now".

"While this recent launch of short-range missiles does not violate Pyongyang's promise to halt longer-range tests, North Korea has now made it clear it will not halt developing other parts of its military capabilities that threaten the region", he said.

"North Korea, and the companies that help it evade USA and United Nations sanctions, should know that we will use all tools at our disposal - including a civil forfeiture action such as this one, or criminal charges - to enforce the sanctions enacted by the USA and the global community", he said.

North Korea has been the subject of a series of USA and global sanctions over Pyongyang's development of nuclear weapons and missile tests.

"It appears the North is highly displeased that the Hanoi summit ended without agreement", he said in an interview marking his first two years in office.

"My best guess is that proceeds from these coal sales are never actually going to North Korea, but they're being used to buy things internationally which then get back to North Korea - according to the complaint - on the same vessel", he added.

The summit in Vietnam ended without an agreement between the U.S. and North Korea.

But the North Korean statement condemned the continuation of joint U.S. According to South Korea's JCS one missile flew 270 kilometers and the other 420 kilometers.

Biegun met his South Korean counterpart Lee Do-hoon for breakfast on Thursday and is due to hold discussions with the South's foreign and unification ministers Friday as the security allies - Washington stations 28,500 troops in the South to defend it from its neighbour - work on their approach towards Pyongyang. The latest launches were conducted on Thursday.

Trump made a surprise announcement March 22 on Twitter that he was withdrawing a new round of sanctions the Treasury Department had placed against North Korea earlier that day. He said the new launches could only worsen the growing tensions.
