Kevin Durant to Miss Remainder of Rockets Series After Calf Injury

DURING THE PLAYOFFS: Rockets: Averaging 109.1 points, 43.7 rebounds, 17.9 assists, 8.3 steals and 5.8 blocks per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field.

"It's one of those things that until they actually lose, no one believes they're actually going to lose", Berg said.

"I think defensively is how you win the series", Harden said. "This group will never be doubted". The bad news is that means Durant will miss the remainder of the Warriors' series with the Rockets, whether or not it goes six or seven games.

The Rockets had been hopeful of seeing Durant on the court Friday.

James Harden scored 31 points for the Rockets, who will try to stave off elimination back home in Houston on Friday night. Even so, the Warriors made it clear they didn't expect to have Durant available for Game 6. That effort was followed by a collective Golden State showing in the clincher a few nights later. Durant's status for the rest of the postseason - if Golden State beats the Rockets and heads to the conference finals - is up in the air.

Still, the task at hand represents a bind for the two-time defending champions. Whenever the Warriors needed bailing out, Durant usually came through with smashing results, and now that high-level insurance will be missing from this series and perhaps a portion of the Western Conference finals if the Warriors manage to advance. He had a similar injury last season and missed almost two weeks.

Durant suffered the injury after pulling up for a jumpshot along the baseline.

"With Kevin out, it changes everything", Kerr said. That gave us a chance to win down the stretch with how hard we played on that end of the floor.

Kerr is citing the past in order to rouse his team's confidence, although the present doesn't exactly equal the past.

The Warriors are 26-1 in their last 27 games when Curry plays but Durant does not. We can all pretend and just say he's doubtful.

"They've got a lot of middle linebackers on that team", he said. We trust each other. They trust each other; they've won championships together. I apologize to my mom, who is probably watching, but our guys are f - ing giants. "Honestly it was a little deflating for a second", Stephen Curry said, "and then we rallied".
