United Kingdom government to resume cross-party Brexit talks next week

Leading British eurosceptic Nigel Farage has launched a new political party with a promise of a "democratic revolution" in United Kingdom politics, beginning with the European Parliament elections in May.

Meanwhile, an analysis of various polls by the Sunday Telegraph showed that the Tories would lose almost 60 seats in a potential snap election that could come over May's failure to deliver on Brexit.

Nigel Farage, the leader of the new Brexit Party, says his anti-EU group will mirror UKIP on policies, but when it comes to personnel there will be a "vast difference", with no far-right faction.

However, there is no formal mechanism with which dissatisfied lawmakers can oust her without also raising the possibility of a general election and a Labour government.

An Opinium poll published in the Observer newspaper showed the Conservatives at 29 percent, down 6 points from March 28 and 7 points behind Labour. The support is the lowest May's party has scored since the European elections in May 2014, according to the pollster.

The government will have only a month to take all the steps it needs to complete to keep to May's timetable of leaving before European parliament elections.

Former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith called Sunday on May to resign as prime minister next month.

"What the Prime Minister has to do is aim everything now towards departure before the European elections which would then allow her to step away having done what she said she would do, getting the United Kingdom out of the European Union one way or the other and then we can have another leadership election and pick a new leader", he told Sky.

Lidington said: "These are hard, delicate negotiations where we are testing out other people's ideas".

Lidington told the BBC compromise talks with Labour would continue, with both sides seeking agreement over a plan for Brexit that could win parliament's approval.

Britain has managed to secure a fresh delay to Brexit until the end of October.

Britain's exit from the European Union was postponed by a late night agreement in Brussels last week that gave Prime Minister Theresa May until Oct 31 to persuade parliament to approve the terms of the country's departure.
