Motorola Wins the Race to First 5G Smartphone within the World

On March 21st we reported that the Galaxy S10 5G would go on sale in Korea this coming Friday. The cost of memory chips is expected to rise and there is an expectation among all smartphone vendors that flexible displays and 5G will stimulate the market and encourage consumers to purchase new devices.

The launch was announced for Friday and even preceded that of USA carrier Verizon, which also began on Wednesday to commercialize 5G service in Chicago and Minneapolis.

On April 3 the South became the first country to launch nationwide 5G services, with three superfast networks going live offering data speeds that allow users to download entire movies in less than a second.

Samsung's Q2 guidance will also provide commentators a better barometer of Galaxy S10 series sales, with Q1 only encompassing a few weeks.

One major pull of Galaxy S10 5G is its superior hardware.

DJ Koh, CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics said the incredible speed and connectivity of 5G is bringing the world closer in line with Samsung's vision of connected living.

The Time of Flight camera (ToF) used in Huawei's P30 Pro is a game changer.

Motorola hasn't made the 5G Moto Mod available itself yet, but Verizon is selling it to its own customers at a discounted price of $199, which is about £151. The Galaxy S10 5G will not offer storage expansions, while it will ship with a 4,500mAh non-removable battery, and it will support fast wired charging (25W), fast wireless charging (15W), and reverse wireless charging (9W). Android 9 Pie will come pre-installed on the device, while the Snapdragon 855 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel the device in the US. Those include a 16 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera, a 12 megapixel wide-angle main camera, a 12 megapixel telephoto camera, and a 3D depth sensor.

While the competition over the publicity on 5G network is intense, mobile technology experts warn that the launch of 5G service is only a beginning.
