Trump claims Cohen ‘directly’ asked for a pardon

After former Trump attorney Michael Cohen's public testimony last week, Democrats on the House Oversight and Reform Committee have another Trump associate on their radar - Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer (CFO) of the Trump Organization.

President Donald Trump unloaded on his former fixer Michael Cohen Friday morning, calling Cohen a "bad lawyer", a "fraudster", and a perjurer.

The lawsuit, filed in state Supreme Court in Manhattan, said that the Trump Organization had failed to live up to an agreement to pay for any legal fees or related costs Cohen incurred in his work with the Trump Organization.

Davis said that his client had been "open" to the "dangling" of a possible pardon by Trump's aides.

Cohen has become a key figure in congressional investigations since turning on his former boss and co-operating with special counsel Robert Mueller. He said Cohen "directed his attorney" to explore a pardon. He's due to report to prison in May.

The source said the claim that the Trump Tower Moscow deal was over in January was in the draft from Cohen's initial writing and remained.

There is nothing inherently improper about a subject in a criminal investigation seeking a pardon from a president given the president's wide latitude in granting them.

Maine Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican member of the panel, said Thursday on CNN that senators "clearly need to re-interview some witnesses whose accounts (Cohen) contradicts". Cohen, who made himself valuable to Trump by burying his potentially embarrassing deeds, is now trying to revive them in an effort to reduce his time behind bars.

Russian Federation had denied interfering in the 2016 election.

"I think that that, to me, was a moment that must have struck fear in President Trump and his family, and anyone who works in the Trump organization".

Cohen has pleaded guilty to various violations, including campaign finance and tax fraud, and lying to Congress, and has been sentenced to three years in prison.

"That continues to be the case".

Now Davis, an established Washington-insider attorney, is claiming Cohen's statement last week 'was true - and consistent with his post-joint defense agreement commitment to tell the truth'.

But the company stopped paying the invoices the next month, when reports emerged that Cohen was planning to cooperate with Mueller's probe and federal prosecutors in NY, forcing McDermott to withdraw and Cohen to find new lawyers, according to the suit.

Cohen was one of Trump's lawyers and closest advisers for a decade until their public split last summer.
