Forbes Names Kylie Jenner ‘Youngest Self-Made Billionaire Ever’ - Unseating Mark Zuckerberg

But the declaration has sparked outrage on social media by those who take issue with the term "self-made", claiming Jenner's heritage set her up for success.

Kylie Cosmetics founder, Kylie Jenner, has officially become the world's youngest "self-made" billionaire at 21 years old, Forbes reported Tuesday.

A large majority of her wealth comes from her Kylie Cosmetics company, which is estimated to be worth at least $900 million and has products sold both online and in retail stores throughout the United States.

Kylie Jenner toppled Mark Zuckerberg who previously held the title for the youngest billionaire after crossing the milestone in 2008 when Facebook became a household brand. Its research found that the total number of billionaires had declined over the past year from 2,208 to 2,153. Much of it is driven through social media.

She started her business with Kylie Cosmetics in the year 2015 and still happens to be the soul owner of the cosmetics range.

Before she was launched into the public consciousness for her lips (whether they were real or injections), she had been appearing on the Kardashian reality TV show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and doing modelling gigs.

According to Forbes, this strategic move helped Kylie Cosmetics' revenue increase by nine percent in 2018, reaching an estimated $360 million.

Jenner's big sister, Kim Kardashian, also made Forbes 2018 list, but with just over a third of her sister's fortune, what Forbes lists as a net worth at $350 million. A post on crypto coins news further argued that such support contradicts the notion of "self-made" in Jenner's case, which indirectly questions Forbes' process for selecting candidates.

In an interview with Forbes, Jenner said: "I didn't expect anything". Not every rich kid could've done what she did. "It's the power of social media".
