Huawei Technologies unveiled a US$2,600 (S$3,500) folding smartphone on Sunday which it said was primed for next generation 5G mobile connections, even as the United States campaigns to bar the Chinese company from such networks over security concerns.

The five cameras in Nokia 9 PureView work in tandem to produce more detailed photos.

HMD GLOBAL has launched the Nokia 9 PureView, and if you've got trypophobia, you might want to look away now.

Analyst Frank Gillett at Forrester said the high-end photo features of the Nokia 9 PureView - including two 12 megapixel colour sensors and three 12 megapixel monochrome sensors - plus a full range of phones and features at affordable prices, positioned Nokia to appeal to the hundreds of millions of smartphone buyers set to come online in India and China. The circular setup features five camera lenses, one on the top and four at the bottom.

The cameras on the Nokia 9 are definitely the highlight of the device. The unique combination of camera sensors enables the phone to collect 10 times more light than a phone with a single color camera sensor. Durability with a premium touch that is what made of in every Nokia phone as it expands, even more, to reach out to the "mass-market".

It also includes a fingerprint sensor built into the screen and wireless charging capabilities.

There's also a dedicated imaging co-processor on the Nokia 9 and the phone allows you to capture images in uncompressed RAW "DNG" format and through a partnership with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom allows editing on the device.

In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 9 PureView, supports Wi-Fi 802.11, BlueTooth v5.0, GPS, NFC, and USB v3.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector.

The phone runs the last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and not the latest Snapdragon 855, which is a disappointment in 2019, though performance should not be a problem. It is only available in a Midnight Blue colour option, and has dual curved edges on the back, which makes it easier to hold. The Nokia 9 itself proves to be a very well balanced smartphone and fit for photography enthusiasts breaking new barriers of innovation. At the rear, there's an 8MP camera with autofocus, and up front a 5MP snapper.

Screen - 5.99-inch OLED screen with 2K resolution is given. Nokia 9 PureView is priced at $699 (Rs 50,000 approx), and will start shipping early next month.

Costing $169, this mid-range device features a 5.71-inch, 19:9 display (1520x720, 270PPI), a Snapdragon 439 SoC, either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, two rear cameras (13MP, f/2.2 aperture + 2MP depth sensor), a selfie cam (8MP, f/2.0), and a 3,000mAh battery.
