Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: State of the Union an ’embarrassment’

"They can get used to it because I won't be smiling for this president anytime soon", she told the New York Post. She is representing New York's 14th District and clearly isn't like other Democrats who are sometimes passive and quickly back down.

"Why do people think they can mess with Bronx women without getting roasted?", Ocasio-Cortez wrote regarding the Bronx-born artist.

During the encounter with Flake in September, Archila and another woman held an elevator open that Flake was attempting to use and confronted him over his support for Kavanaugh, as The Daily Wire reported at the time. Speaking to The Intercept this week, she praised Ocasio-Cortez for choosing to remind Americans of her confrontation with Flake.

Ocasio-Cortez, who represents a district in the Bronx and Queens that is almost 50% immigrant, is outspoken on immigration issues and campaigned on eliminating the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.

Speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of a Capitol Hill event on Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez said the appointment of progressives like her to the panel "sends a very powerful message" to the financial industry.

Mr Trump also went on to say the government was launching a "Government-wide initiative focused on economic empowerment for women in developing countries".

But at one point when she didn't applaud while Trump was talking about putting sex traffickers behind bars, some people wondered about that decision. Flake credited the confrontation for recomending the final full-Senate vote on Kavanaugh be delayed for an additional week in order for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to conduct another background check on the judge.

Since her election to Congress, Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has gained widespread attention from conservatives and liberals. Archila said. "We just heard a woman yesterday, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, pour her heart out and tell about attacks to protect our country".

In the same confrontation, while Flake stood almost captive in the elevator elevator, Maria Gallagher, 23, shouted through tears: 'I was sexually assaulted and nobody believed me. She also made headlines for her decision to bring an activist and sexual assault survivor as her guest, her brooch honoring the victims of Trump's cruel and fatal border policy, and her outspoken criticism of the president - coupled with a much-memed "not impressed" look.
