Cadillac Takes Aim at Tesla, Teases All-New Electric SUV for 2022

Cadillac is transporting customers to the future with its first fully electric vehicle.

Meanwhile, at the 2019 NAIAS taking place in Detroit these days, the company is revealing the all-new XT6 and announcing a future Escalade as well as an upcoming performance sedan.

BEV3 is a brand-new platform being developed by Cadillac and doesn't take cues from its now operational electric auto frameworks like that in Chevrolet.

The premium vehicle brand from General Motors has showed-off its first fully electric auto. In addition, the USA manufacturer will build a "disproportionate share" of the 20 new electric models that General Motors intends to bring to market worldwide by 2023.

Cadillac has a goal to sell an electric SUV priced more affordably than Tesla Inc.'s Model X, which often retails for more than $100,000. "The industry is going electric and we all expect the same amount of business", he said. To stay competitive, GM's upcoming electric models will need to be affordably priced. "It will represent the height of luxury and innovation while positioning Cadillac as the pinnacle of mobility". Its most critical components - including the battery cells - are being designed for maximum usability across all programs. The EVs can be configured in front-, rear- or all-wheel drive, and the output of their battery systems will be adjustable based on vehicle and customer needs.

The launch of the EV is part of an aggressive product release movement by GM who plans to release a new model every 6 months between now and 2021.
