Hudson-Odoi is a player we absolutely want to sign - Bayern chief

The talented England youth attacker has only 18 months left on his current deal, having resisted putting his signature on a new five-year contract offered by the club hierarchy last summer pending assurances of regular first-team action.

However, Sky Sports now claims that the fourth Bayern bid has gone in at £35m, at last matching Chelsea's supposed asking price for Hudson-Odoi.

Following Hudson-Odoi's performance against Tottenham, Maurizio Sarri said: "He played like a player of 25, 26 years, I think". I can advise him, but at the end of the day he decides about his future.

The 18-year-old has emerged as a surprise target for the reigning German champions in the January transfer window despite his lack of first-team experience.

"He is very young but he is improving, especially in the defensive phase".

Yet with only seven appearances this season, including just one in the Premier League, Hudson-Odoi joins a growing list of Blues youngsters who are failing to make the step towards the senior squad.

It's been widely speculated that although Bayern Munich have been scouting Hudson-Odoi for some time, their interest in the England Under-19 global largely stems from the success that Jadon Sancho has had at Borussia Dortmund.

'What I can say: we like the player and take a great interest in signing him. "I don't want to talk to a player about things that have nothing to do with me".

"In my opinion, he needs to go", Sarri said. He's not at a mid-table club thinking 'why am I not playing?' it's Willian, Pedro, proper players. But we are lucky because our Academy is very good.

Chelsea started with Callum Hudson-Odoi for their Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley tonight - despite the player being the subject of intense transfer speculation. According to French daily L'Equipe, Fabregas and his agent had a meeting with Monaco vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev, on Sunday evening, during which a contract agreement was made between both sides that would see the ex-Barcelona player sign with the French club until 2021.
