Lonzo Ball stuffs box score in matchup with Clippers

"I felt like we kind of started to splinter a little bit", he said on ESPN of the Clippers' 22-0 run that propelled them to the win.

"James wa" could do nothing but watch as his Lakers side were beaten by city rivals Los Angeles Clippers in Friday night's derby.

"Lou has seen pretty much every defense you can throw at him", Rivers said. The Clippers have won 22 of their last 25 meetings with the Lakers, yet still trail the 16-time National Basketball Association champions 146-70 in the overall series.

James had injured his groin during Tuesday's big win over the Golden State Warriors and will be out indefinitely.

The best part about it all was how casual James was about it, as he walked with the glass of wine, followed by security.

He sat alongside teammate Rajon Rondo, who is expected to miss a month after having finger surgery, on the bench as the Lakers fell 118-107 to the Clippers in the teams' first regular-season encounter. We got to regroup. "And then after I stopped I was like - that one right there made you the greatest player of all time".

The Lakers lost their first game without Rondo and James on Thursday night, falling 117-116 to the Kings. And well, it would appear that we couldn't be any more right. In 11 of the last 15 games he's played, Ball has scored in double figures, including two games where he scored 20-plus points.

Williams drilled a 3-pointer over Lance Stephenson that gave the Clippers a 112-100 lead, effectively ending any chance of a Lakers comeback, and celebrated by doing Stephenson's signature air guitar. They have won four straight "road" games against the Lakers, but lost their last "home" game in the series. The Lakers have been revitalized around James, while the Clippers have formed a surprisingly strong core after shedding longtime mainstays Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul over the previous year.

Josh Hart scored 12 points for the Lakers before getting ejected with 4:41 left after he was infuriated that Tobias Harris wasn't called for pushing off. Walton also got a technical foul in the exchange.
