PSG could sell Liverpool-linked Rabiot in January

Paris Saint-Germain boast one of the most promising midfielders on the planet in Adrien Rabiot.

"The player informed me that he will not be signing a new contract and that he wants to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season [also the end of his contract]".

Rabiot's contract is due to expire in the summer and the 23-year-old's agent says he is "determined to leave". That's telling, it shows that Barcelona had reached an agreement with Rabiot before coming to speak to us.

Both PSG and Rabiot would be glad to end their association in January.

With Adrien Rabiot nearly certain to join Barcelona either in January or next summer, Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director, Antero Henrique, has launched a broadside at the Catalans.

But, for a while now, Rabiot's contract has been the talk of the transfer window, with the Frenchman not ready to commit to a new deal. "The club made this decision and I have to respect it".

"For the player, this will have a very clear effect: he will remain on the bench for an indefinite period". Adrien Rabiot's decision not to renew with the club has angered the hierarchy at PSG, where they believe Barça are behind the snub.

Rabiot had been linked with a move to Barcelona last summer, something his mother confirmed she was aware of, while Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the midfielder who has won six caps for France.

Speaking after Edinson Cavani and Moussa Diaby goals secured a 2-1 Coupe de la Ligue last 16 win away at Ligue 2 side Orleans, the German tactician backed the capital club's stance with their wantaway France global.

With the January window fast approaching, PSG may be tempted to sell to ease their FFP woes.
