A Trump Golf Resort Hired Undocumented Workers, Report Says

Victorina Morales, an immigrant from Guatemala, and Sandra Diaz, a native of Costa Rica, told the New York Times that they both worked for years at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., along with several other undocumented immigrants, and that their supervisors knew their employment violated us law.

The lawyer representing two undocumented immigrants working at one of President Trump's golf resorts is asking New Jersey officials to investigate their treatment.

And the advocates celebrated Ms. Morales and Sandra Diaz, another woman who worked for the president's New Jersey golf course while an illegal immigrant, who also told her story to The New York Times.

Since Trump was elected president, he has launched several attacks on Latin American immigrants, at times comparing them to violent criminals. Trump has taken a tough stance on immigration since taking office in 2016. Perhaps emboldened by that talk, she says her supervisor started verbally abusing workers, calling them "stupid illegal immigrants".

Morales has had dealings with Trump that go back years, and her husband has confirmed that she would on occasion come home jubilant because the club owner had paid her a compliment, or bestowed on her a $50 or sometimes a $100 tip. Ms. Morales said that she understood she could be fired or deported as a result of coming forward, though she has applied for protection under the asylum laws. An employee of the golf course drives her and a group of others to work every day, she says, because it is known that they can not legally obtain driver's licenses.

His anti-immigration views are also not limited to the United States; Trump has criticized European nations for allowing refugees and migrants to resettle there, saying the newcomers "change the fabric" of the West for the worse.

Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, and his golf course in Jupiter, Florida, filed documents in 2017 to bring in additional foreign workers under the H-2B visa program. She is also exploring a lawsuit claiming workplace abuse and discrimination.

Her lawyer, Anibal Romero, has called for federal and state investigations into the matter.

Since his election, Trump has pushed for passage of his "Four Pillars" immigration reforms, which would curb legal and illegal immigration, so pushing up wages for hotel maids and every other blue-collar person.

"If any employee submitted false documentation in an attempt to circumvent the law, they will be terminated immediately", Miller said.

The White House declined to comment on whether Mr. She said she did not expect to return to work.

Still, she said she got by with falsified documents and a knack for cleaning according to Trump's highly specific standards.
