The film also stars actress Amy Jackson in the vital role. However, things did not seem to have worked out between them and then the role eventually fell into Akshay's lap. The film, which opened at a whopping Rs 64 crore (all languages) continues to remain strong during the weekend. The movie was released on November 29, Thursday, and received mixed reviews from the film critics. "He shared the three day collections of the film's Hindi version on Twitter, "#2Point0 jumps on Day 3 [Sat].

The film is expected to end its first weekend on a good note. In TN as a whole, the film has grossed close to 18 CR which is Rajini's 2nd best opener in the state below Kabali, but Shankar's career best.

Trade website Box Office India said the film was performing well in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Punjab, Bihar and Central India, all traditional territories where dubbed South Indian films struggle, thanks to the presence of Akshay Kumar, who plays the antagonist.

The Hindi version of "2.0" is quite steady and very decent. The movie is made under the huge budget of Rs 543 and is considered as the most expensive Indian film. "2.0" is a sequel to superhit 2010 Tamil film "Enthiran" which had Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead.
