Alec Baldwin arrested in Manhattan

Countdown to Donald Trump tweeting about this: Alec Baldwin was arrested in New York City after allegedly punching a man over a parking spot!

The 30 Rock sitcom star was taken into custody shortly before 2pm local time (6pm GMT) in Manhattan's Greenwich Village.

Police sources teed off on an actor of Baldwin's stature for getting involved in a parking spot street fight.

The two argued and when the victim went to a pay the parking meter, Baldwin ran up and struck him, authorities said. Baldwin was being held at the 6th Precinct on West 10th St.

TMZ claims to have a little backstory on the dispute, reporting that Baldwin had a friend holding the street spot for him. Baldwin fumed, according to another witness, a construction worker who also declined to be named.

The 60-year-old NY born actor has had a history of public blow ups. After all, Baldwin portrays Trump on Saturday Night Live - and Baldwin's portrayal is anything but flattering.

The 49-year-old station wagon driver was taken to a hospital with jaw pain. A rep for Baldwin did not immediately return Fox News' request for comment. Said Trump: "I wish him luck".

In the 1990s, Baldwin was acquitted of battery in a case involving a photographer. MSNBC, where he hosted a talk show at the time, subsequently chose to cancel the show.
