Three studs from Carolina Panthers win over New York Giants

Mission accomplished. They found a way to do it - despite sloppiness against an average Giants team and a subpar effort from quarterback Cam Newton - by beating the New York Giants on Sunday 33-31 thanks to Graham Gano's 63-yard field goal with one second remaining.

It's the second year in a row the Giants (1-4) have been beaten by a monster field goal at the end.

It wasn't the only wild play of the afternoon in Charlotte. Nevertheless, the Panthers responded to the challenge in Eric Reid's first game as a member of the team.

The Panthers had nine players touch the ball on offense in the first half.

Barkley would finish with four catches for 81 yards, and Beckham, who was matched up with James Bradberry for much of the day, had eight for 131.

Following a 63-yard field goal for the win, a tweet was posted mocking an National Football League commercial featuring New York Giants Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr.'s spoof of a scene from "Dirty Dancing". Olsen will give Newton his favorite target after a two-interception performance that kept this one in jeopardy until the end.

The Giants took the lead on a great touchdown catch by Saquon Barkley with about a minute to go, only to have their hearts ripped out by the Panthers as time expired.

Panthers: Wide receiver Devin Funchess was evaluated for a concussion in the fourth quarter following a helmet-to-helmet hit by Giants defensive back Michael Thomas, but returned to the game.

The Giants would strike back to make it 31-30; a 40-yard pass to Russell Shepard was quickly followed by a 15-yard touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley.
