Donald Trump Questions Brett Kavanaugh's Accuser Sparking #WhyIDidntReport

Trump tweeted Friday that if the attack was "as bad as she says", Ford or her parents would have reported it to law enforcement.

Another shared, "For the first few years after I didn't report because I was terrified and didn't have the words".

She says she was only saved from being raped after a friend intervened and pulled him off her.

Alyssa Milano and Ashley Judd have opened up about their experiences of sexual assault after U.S. President Donald Trump criticised an alleged victim. First of all, we know that allegations of sexual assault - I'm not saying that's what happened in this case - but we know allegations of sexual assault are one of the most unreported crimes that exist.

According to Trump, the fact that Ford remained silent until now shows the incident probably never happened - even if this runs counter to what experts say is the typical reaction of sexual assault victims afraid or too embarrassed to report. "I never tried to find justice for my pain because justice was never an option", she wrote.

She continues: "For me, speaking up meant reliving one of the worst moments of my life. It meant recognizing my attacker's existence when I wanted nothing more than to forget that he was allowed to walk on this Earth at all", she wrote.

Ford "accepts the committee's request to provide her first-hand knowledge of Brett Kavanaugh's sexual misconduct next week", said a message from her lawyers to the Senate Judiciary Committee, US media reported. The piece also included a call-to-arms against Kavanaugh.

Grassley had said that if she did not agree, he would schedule a vote on confirming Kavanaugh to the lifetime position on the Supreme Court on Monday, without her testimony.

The call to arms inspired a deluge of other survivors to contribute their own emotionally devastating accounts of why they din't go to the authorities in the immediate aftermath of their assaults. And the highest court in our land is no place for an alleged sexual offender to sit.

However, it wasn't just women who shared their heartbreaking encounters with the world; men told their stories as well.

Among them was actress Mira Sorvino, who wrote in a tweet that she didn't report an assault "because the first time I did for a serious sexual assault as a teenager nothing came of it, and later I felt that I wasn't important enough to make a big deal over".

Milano said she went to counseling to help herself heal but she did not know if she would ever publicly tell her story of assault.

Milano ended her essay by simply stating that she believes Ford and demanding that our senators reject Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, adding: "Every person who refuses to loudly and openly reject Brett Kavanaugh's nomination is telling every generation of Americans that an alleged abuser's career is more valuable than a survivor's humanity".
