Elon Musk smokes marijuana during podcast

Elon Musk took a drag on a fat joint while being interviewed on the "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast on Thursday.

"Is that a joint?"

During the podcast interview, Musk, who is also the founder of the startup Boring Co., as well as Neuralink, said that running Tesla has been the hardest of his current projects.

Shortly after smoking, Musk looks at his phone and laughs, telling Rogan he was getting texts from friends asking why he was smoking weed during the interview. "You probably can't because of stockholders, right?"

It's unusual for a CEO of a public company to smoke weed on camera, but this is just the latest instance of atypical behavior from Musk.

He has denied he was smoking weed when he sent his now infamous tweet on August 7 claiming he had secured funding to take Tesla private. Marijuana is legal for recreational use in the state of California, although it's still illegal federally.

The 47-year-old billionaire later said he wasn't a "regular smoker" of marijuana because he doesn't find it "very good for productivity".

Some Wall Street analysts called again for the company to appoint another senior leader for the company to take the pressure off Musk, or rein in his control.

In July he shocked investors by announcing on Twitter that he had funding secured to take his vehicle firm Tesla private. Neuralink may have something interesting to announce in a few months, Musk told Rogan.

Musk also told Rogan that Tesla remains his focus, though he did ruminate aloud on a new idea to build an electric airplane that he thinks would be capable of taking off and landing vertically (VTOL), as Harrier jets do. "We think this is further evidence that the time is now for management and the Board to address these issues", Albertine said.

"It's like a cup of coffee in reverse", he added.

"It may sound corny, but love is the answer".

He said accomplishing things and being useful to others kept him going, as he urged others to spend less time on social media. "If we were forever confined to Earth, that would be sad", Musk said.
