Chicago Bears land top pass rusher Khalil Mack in blockbuster National Football League trade

The Raiders will get the Bears' first-round picks in 2019 and 2020, third-round pick in 2020 and sixth-round pick in 2019, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Oakland exercised the fifth-year option on Mack's contract last summer, worth $13.846 million. The Bears signed Mack to a lucrative six-year extension through 2024.

If the excitement for the Bears season wasn't already at an all-time high with the season just one week away, Saturday's trade makes this season one of the most anticipated in recent memory.

Mack had been sitting out the offseason and preseason with the Raiders declining to negotiate with him and reportedly not speaking with Mack or making an offer to his camp since February.

Here are five reasons he can do just that, even as early as this coming season. Mack has only four years under his belt, and at the ripe age of 27, has started every game in his career, never missing one contest.

NFL.com has reported that the Bears are likely going to give Mack a deal that eclipses the one that the Rams gave Donald.

Gruden not only gets the first-round draft picks for his roster rebuild, but saves around $23 million in cap space for the foreseeable future by no longer having Mack around.

The Bears' biggest concern going into the season was edge rushing, and Mack nearly instantly solves that. Now, Mack is the highest paid defensive player in National Football League history.

Raiders players, including Mack's best friend, Derek Carr, have thoughts on this. (Gruden will meet the media in person Sunday.) Why did they go through months without negotiations with the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year? They added some new playmaking targets, most notably former Jacksonville Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson. The deal for Mack is another bold move by Pace as he tries to lift a struggling franchise.

Given how much money they gave Gruden, the Raiders have no choice but to keep trusting his process despite the apparent flaws of an operating system that hasn't been updated in years.

A thrilled Bears left tackle Charles Leno Jr. tweeted a video of himself dancing to Mark Morrison's "Return of the Mack".
