Apple to debut new iPhones during September 12 event

According to Variety, Apple gave out invitations for the company's next iPhone event on Thursday morning.

Apple Inc is set to roll out its latest lineup of products on september 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in the company's Cupertino, California campus, the iPhone maker said on Thursday. There's only an outline of what appears to be Apple Park as seen from above in copper (could it be hinting at a new copper-colored iPhone?) and "Gather round" below it.

Of those, 42% plan on buying one of the three new iPhones to be announced next month, while 18% plan to purchase an iPhone X, 16% want to upgrade to an iPhone 8, and 24% intend to upgrade to another iPhone.

An image that purportedly shows both of Apple's new iPhone models has leaked out.

Apple is expected to bring a new Apple Watch with at least a larger display, and perhaps other new features (longer battery life, perhaps?). Along with that giant display, the largest iPhone model is also expected to have a third rear camera, potentially granting the phone an edge when it comes to photographing in low-light conditions.

But now the wait is over as Apple has officially sent out the invites for its most important event of the year. It will be particularly interesting to see how the firm markets the rumored cheaper iPhone, given the relatively poor reception of the iPhone 5c, a budget iPhone model the company offered in 2013 in response to increased global demand for cheaper phones. Kuo further predicts that the 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone models could come in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants depending on the regions. From an Apple Watch with more screen real estate to the debut of the long-awaited AirPower Mat facilitating wireless charging, the California company may drop some non-iPhone surprises.
