Osinbajo sacks DG of DSS, Lawal Daura over National Assembly Invasion

The Director-General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura has been sacked by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura.

Daura is however in a closed-door meeting with the Acting President, now holding at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris has absolved his men of blame from Tuesday's blockage of the National Assembly (NASS) by security operatives, saying that the development came to him as a surprise.

He maintained that the "unlawful act which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable and completely unacceptable".

The sacked DSS boss had earlier met behind closed door with the acting president with the IGP Idris and the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, in attendance.

Officers of the Department Of State Services (DSS), had stormed the National Assembly in the early hours of Tuesday, barricading the entrance and preventing lawmakers from entering. After the lawmakers were allowed in, other officials and the media remained barred from the premises.

Some PDP senators, who were caught in the blockade interpreted it as a move to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki.
