Pele's lovely tweet to Cristiano Ronaldo after hearing about Juventus move

Another major deal on the go in Madrid is the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Salgado hoping Real don't lower their asking price for the winger too much.

"I ask everyone, and especially our supporters, to please understand me".

"Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you".

During his tenure at the Bernebeau, the five-time Balon d'Or victor was nigh on unstoppable, scoring a staggering 451 goals in 438 appearances for the club. After the deal, Cristiano Ronaldo wrote an official letter to Real Madrid fans saying he only has feelings of enormous gratitude for Real Madrid club and the city.

Back in April, after Ronaldo's stunning overhead-kick goal against Juve was greeted with a standing ovation in Turin, nobody could possibly have envisaged the 33-year-old signing for the Old Lady just three months later.

Juventus revealed in a club statement that they would pay 100 million euros ($A158 million) to Madrid over two financial years and "additional costs" of 12 million euros ($A19 million).

Ronaldo has flirted with other clubs before, but usually to force a better contract offer from Real Madrid.

Juventus hasn't won a UEFA Champions League trophy (the equivalent of a World Cup trophy for club soccer) since 1996.

Having already proved that he can do the business in England and Spain, he will be desperate to help bring the European glory back to the fans who so crave it in Turin. Ronaldo, after all, held the Ballon d'Or five times (tied for the most ever with Lionel Messi), graced the covers of glossy magazines, has probably dated more supermodels than there are days in a year, and won almost every major trophy that's been created to honor the best players and teams in the world's most popular sport.

For the moment, it is unclear just who will replace Ronaldo in the squad this summer, but everything points to Chelsea and Belgium star Eden Hazard, who has always been a target for the club.

This calendar year his goals have come every 70 minutes, he has been the top scorer in the Champions League for each of the past six seasons, and during his nine seasons in La Liga he scored 311 goals, notes the broadcaster.
