Lucas Torreira’s Medical Scheduled For Tomorrow

The Sampdoria defensive midfielder is travelling to London from Moscow after Uruguay's World Cup exit at the hands of France.

Rather than joining the rest of his countrymen in flying back to Montevideo, the 22-year-old instead took a flight to London where he will finally complete a medical and sign a contract.

Lucas Torreira has spoken out ahead of his summer move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have agreed a £26.5m (€30m) deal with Sampdoria for the midfielder.

Lucas Torreira was not one of them as, according to reports, he is now en-route to London to complete his Arsenal medical.

Arsenal is now targeting Banega's Sevilla teammate Steven N'Zonzi who has handed in his transfer request, but the Frenchman may not be too keen on playing in the Europa League.

Those players who haven't been involved in the showpiece tournament over in Russian Federation have now returned to Arsenal's training ground to start their pre-season preparations, and of course, meet their new manager.

Torreira is set to join Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos as off-season signings at Arsenal.

Torreira will become Unai Emery's fourth signing since taking over at the Emirates.

Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, universally described as a "wonderkid" on account of being just 19.

His work rate will not only shield the Gunners defence, but also go some way to freeing up the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka to focus more on contributing to Arsenal's attacking play, when they tend to be at their best.

Ouest-France claim the youngster will pen a four-year deal at the Emirates following his medical.
